A mobile gym experience for training, check-in and recovery
Project description
A non-public fitness provider wanted to develop a digital gym experience that goes beyond a classic member app. The focus was a mobile app that connects check-in, training planning, live training, goal progress and recovery. The planned integration with a dedicated fitness tracker meant that training data had to become useful in the actual gym context, not just collected somewhere else.
Our contribution was the concept and design of the central app screens. The product needed to show how members could experience studio access, training sessions, repetitions, sleep data and personal goals in one consistent interface.
Target state
The goal was a connected fitness product that brings studio, wearable and member account together. Users should not have to switch between tracker app, notes and studio administration, but get a clear view of training, progress and recovery.
Challenges
The main UX challenge was to structure very different data types calmly: check-in status, training values, repetitions, sleep, goals and prompts must not feel like a technical dashboard. In a gym context, the app has to be easy to scan while users move between equipment, courses and breaks.
Implementation
We created a mobile design concept around clear core flows: studio check-in, live workout, goal overview and recovery. The focus was large, scannable states, short interactions and an interface that does not get in the way during training. Tracker data was designed as decision context, not as a raw wall of numbers.
Outcome
The result is a design concept that shows how a fitness studio can accompany members digitally from entering the studio through training to recovery. The screens provide a solid basis for product decisions, technical specification and later development.
