An iOS app that helps users end the day on time
Project description
Many apps help users wake up in the morning. Sperrstunde starts earlier: it helps users stop in the evening. Selected apps can be blocked from a defined time so users are less likely to fall into doomscrolling and can get to bed more easily.
Target state
The goal was a calm consumer app with a clear effect. Users should be able to define which apps are blocked in the evening or morning without complicated settings or moralizing copy. The product needed to feel like a helpful ritual.
Challenges
The technical challenge was native iOS integration for app selection, blocking schedules and system-level behavior. At the same time, the UX had to stay simple because digital-wellbeing products can quickly become too complex or feel judgmental. Subscription and App Store submission also had to be integrated cleanly.
Implementation
We supported style, product structure and development end to end. The app was implemented natively in Swift so system features such as app blocking and StoreKit subscriptions could be used properly. The flow focuses on a few decisions: when Sperrstunde starts, which apps are affected and which routines help users stay consistent.
Outcome
Sperrstunde was delivered as a focused iOS app: a small, clear product against evening distraction. The combination of native implementation, subscription and App Store readiness creates a solid foundation for a digital-wellbeing product.
